I’ve always had the itch to build something of my own. I’m constantly thinking of new ideas and better ways to do things. Some great, some not so great. But out of all those ideas, Turner’s Tallow is the one that hit closest to home.

For years, my wife has struggled with psoriasis on her hands. If you’ve ever dealt with skin issues like that, you know how frustrating it can be. The list of products that actually helped with the pain, itching, and discomfort was incredibly short, and most of them seemed to trade temporary relief for long-term downsides.

Eventually, we found a local product that actually helped. The problem? It was almost always sold out. One night, lying in bed, I turned to her and said, “I bet we could make this ourselves.” She looked at me and said, very simply, “Then do it.”

So we did.

What started as a late-night idea quickly turned into deep research, trial batches, and a lot of learning. We realized fast that not all tallow creams are created equal. Ingredient quality, sourcing, ratios, texture, and process all matter. The difference between something truly effective and “just another tin” comes down to the details.

We weren’t interested in cutting corners. We needed something that would genuinely work for my wife’s hands. That meant sourcing high-quality, grass-fed and finished beef tallow, pairing it carefully with simple, clean ingredients like pure beeswax and single source olive oil, and obsessing over getting the texture and consistency just right. 

The result? A cream we were proud of. A product that works. Something we felt confident sharing with our family and friends.

Right now, Turner’s Tallow is still a small, family-run operation. It’s helped us cover little things like duck eggs and other simple things. But we're hopeful that it can become something more. Not just a business, but a brand built on quality, consistency, and products that genuinely help people.
